Jabula Plant Hire furthermore takes cognisance of the following realities:
- that as a result of the history of the earthmoving and transport industry in South Africa, black intellectual capital, knowledge and skill is a scarcity in our industry
- that the majority of our staff and workforce originates from historically disadvantaged communities
- that any change will require active participation from individuals through programs and commitment at all levels
- that by getting involved in social upliftment programs, we will make an impact on the future of the country
Empowerment objectives:
- Direct empowerment
- Ownership – A percentage of the company’s equity is earmarked for black management who would through our mentorship programs excel and grow with the company
- Management – Due to the scarcity of skill in the industry the current management of our company is 46% white and 54% black, which had already, been achieved in 2005 through understudy programmes.
- Human Resources development
- Employment equity – A percentage of the company’s equity is earmarked for black staff in a staff equity ownership programme for staff with tenure in excess of 2 years.
- Skills development – an additional percentage of pay role, above and beyond the SDL contribution is spent on training and mentorship
Cognisance should be taken that Jabula Plant Hire was recently evaluated by DECTI. A level seven status has been awarded and we have now embarked on a programme to improve this status furthermore.
